This really isn't the best format to address a question about that specific high school because the likelihood that someone who actually went there is reading your question is very low. Consider visiting the campus and talking to some actual students.

what school districts in the Columbus, Ohio area are known to be good with special needs children?

what school districts in the Columbus, Ohio area are known to be good with special needs children?
Hi Im a single mother of 13 yr old son with Aspergers, capd, add, sensory Integration disorder. I am looking to move to Columbus area. I have looked at state report cards and have come to the conclusion that you cant tell by the state report card if the school district actually cares about educating special needs children. For the simply fact that we were in a state report card rated excellent school district and they treated my son horribly. The one we are in now that is also rated excellent on the state report card is alot better but unfortunately I need to find a full-time job in another city because there are none available here where i live. So does anyone know of good school districts in the Columbus , ohio area ? one that will actually work with the parent and do what they say they are gonna do, follow Iep, have teachers that are trained to work with special needs children and actually enjoy it?

In my experience, ask the schools some of the following questions: -Does your school do inclusion? In what classes do you have both an intervention specialist and gen ed teacher? (the better spec. ed schools should have an inclusion option in the core classes--English, reading, math, where true team-teaching is going on) -How many intervention specialists do you have? (the more the better---this says they put their money where their mouth is!) -How many classroom aides do you have? (same as above!) Also try contacting the Office for Exceptional Children, through the Ohio Department of Education (614) 466-2650. They may be able to tell you their experiences with good schools in the area. Or, they might be able to point you in the direction of a local Columbus parent support group. GOOD LUCK!

Do you think Ohio Schools will have school tomorrow?

Do you think Ohio Schools will have school tomorrow?
We just got some snow in, more than an inch, and since I'm too lazy to watch the news, I was wondering if some people from Ohio could tell me if we will have school tomorrow, I should add that this is for Columbus schools in particular.

Ohio State is a great school. Cold winters there. I'm assuming you're going for a 4 year degree so it's only 4 years. I hated the winters up north during college, but it was worth it. You should pick the best school to go to for your major and not worry about where it's located. Good luck.

While Ohio State is not one of the nation's elite universities (Michigan is ranked much higher by U.S. News and World Report), it's a very, very good school, much higher ranked than most public universities. The campus is excellent. The surrounding neighborhood generally is good, although it can get a little rough a few blocks east of the campus. Ohio State rapidly is expanding its dorm system so living options should improve with each passing year. High Street south of the campus is great fun and Columbus generally is a nice city. Columbus gets much less snow than the Cleveland area, but Columbus also is much less adept at clearing streets. A couple inches of snow that wouldn't be noticed in Cleveland can paralyze Columbus. Two things that you need to consider about Ohio State might NOT make it a good choice for you. Some students are not admitted directly to the main campus but instead are required to prove themselves at one of the university's satellite campuses. Also, once there, admission to many of the most popular programs, such as teaching and nursing, are competitive based on your academic performance as a freshman, etc. It might be easier to get a desired degree at another public university. BOL!

OSU is an INCREDIBLE school! the classes are great and the dorms arent terrible either. Lots to do around campus and TONS to do off campus! i know on the last day of senior year in college they have a bar crawl. where you go with your friends to every bar and club on campus in one night. not to mention lots of sporting events right on campus. My older sister goes there and i went to visit her and i stayed two nights and we had a blast! i live like 20 minutes away and theres tons to do off campus. great shopping, great food places, and cedar point(which has the US's highest roller coaster). and theres also kings island(amusement park), the ohio state fair, The Columbus Zoo/ Zoombezzi bay, and Great waterpark resorts like Great wolf lodge and fort rapids! haha i have lived here since i was 4 and im 14. wouldnt wanna live anywhere else!

i just recently got back from columbus i live in cleveland, my step dad went to ohio state, yes it is a fantastic school! but, my step dad said he would never ever let me go there, because if i did i would probably be moving out of the dorm freshman year, although he did say he wants my brother to go there. it has gotten allot worse then it was awhile back. they have these things called blue phones that are randomly placed around campus for when things "go wrong".... i would have to say that off campus,(where you would be living like everyone else does) is the most ghetto, scary, dirty, little place i have ever seen... did you get the part that i'm from around cleveland? so yeah i know what of ghetto, scary, and dirty are and that is it! Granite i don't actually live in cleveland, i live in a suburb of it, but i still know how bad it is. i would definitely not want to live there, me being a girl and all, there are other collages that have just as much to offer. just think about it, collage kids, drinking, guys acting stupid, your a girl, weaker then them, stuff might go down, that you don't want to... i wouldn't take my chances. (:

Wooo for columbus people! :D haha anyways, columbus school of dance (ballet met or something like that) have beginner classes, I was actually just looking for classes and found them the other day they are just too expensive though :/ but if you google dance places in columbus, ohio there are tons of places that are good for beginners, good luck!

Hello, Double woot for cbus! The other answer suggested Ballet Met and I really think that would be your very best bet. I dance at OSU and several of the dance majors trained there. They have beginning level classes through pre-professional and of course the company. From what I have seen they're training is great and I hear they offer some scholarships. You could look into that because I'm sure its expensive. If that doesn't work out for you, just check out the phone book. There are tons of dance studios in Columbus. Good Luck :)

Greetings from MN. My 11 year old son also has Asperger's and the school he goes to is awesome. For the IEP meeting, there was 9 staff members present...including the principal. If I'm reading your question correctly then you should totally check into MN schools. It's colder than a welldigger's butt, but the school system is awesome. If they're not following the IEP then you have a legal right to sue the snot out of them. Your child has a disabillity. I wish you well...God knows it's not easy.
