When I graduate I plan on going to Ohio State University, and I was wondering if my choice is a good idea.

Ohio State is a great school. Cold winters there. I'm assuming you're going for a 4 year degree so it's only 4 years. I hated the winters up north during college, but it was worth it. You should pick the best school to go to for your major and not worry about where it's located. Good luck.

While Ohio State is not one of the nation's elite universities (Michigan is ranked much higher by U.S. News and World Report), it's a very, very good school, much higher ranked than most public universities. The campus is excellent. The surrounding neighborhood generally is good, although it can get a little rough a few blocks east of the campus. Ohio State rapidly is expanding its dorm system so living options should improve with each passing year. High Street south of the campus is great fun and Columbus generally is a nice city. Columbus gets much less snow than the Cleveland area, but Columbus also is much less adept at clearing streets. A couple inches of snow that wouldn't be noticed in Cleveland can paralyze Columbus. Two things that you need to consider about Ohio State might NOT make it a good choice for you. Some students are not admitted directly to the main campus but instead are required to prove themselves at one of the university's satellite campuses. Also, once there, admission to many of the most popular programs, such as teaching and nursing, are competitive based on your academic performance as a freshman, etc. It might be easier to get a desired degree at another public university. BOL!

OSU is an INCREDIBLE school! the classes are great and the dorms arent terrible either. Lots to do around campus and TONS to do off campus! i know on the last day of senior year in college they have a bar crawl. where you go with your friends to every bar and club on campus in one night. not to mention lots of sporting events right on campus. My older sister goes there and i went to visit her and i stayed two nights and we had a blast! i live like 20 minutes away and theres tons to do off campus. great shopping, great food places, and cedar point(which has the US's highest roller coaster). and theres also kings island(amusement park), the ohio state fair, The Columbus Zoo/ Zoombezzi bay, and Great waterpark resorts like Great wolf lodge and fort rapids! haha i have lived here since i was 4 and im 14. wouldnt wanna live anywhere else!

i just recently got back from columbus i live in cleveland, my step dad went to ohio state, yes it is a fantastic school! but, my step dad said he would never ever let me go there, because if i did i would probably be moving out of the dorm freshman year, although he did say he wants my brother to go there. it has gotten allot worse then it was awhile back. they have these things called blue phones that are randomly placed around campus for when things "go wrong".... i would have to say that off campus,(where you would be living like everyone else does) is the most ghetto, scary, dirty, little place i have ever seen... did you get the part that i'm from around cleveland? so yeah i know what of ghetto, scary, and dirty are and that is it! Granite i don't actually live in cleveland, i live in a suburb of it, but i still know how bad it is. i would definitely not want to live there, me being a girl and all, there are other collages that have just as much to offer. just think about it, collage kids, drinking, guys acting stupid, your a girl, weaker then them, stuff might go down, that you don't want to... i wouldn't take my chances.
